Friday, a 66-year-old French woman tourist was killed and her son injured by a wild elephant at Bokkapuram, adjacent to the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, reports say.
Del Yotel Annie, a retired teacher and her son, Fredrick Jean Lue, residents of Isle-sur-Marne in northeastern France, arrived in Bangalore August 11. They checked into a jungle resort at Bokkapuram village, near Masinagudi, about 12km from the Mudumalai tiger reserve, Thursday.

Worlds first glass hindu temple ‘Arulmigu Sri Raja Kaliamman Temple’ in Malaysia

Malaysia’s first glass temple, the Arulmigu Sri Raja Kaliamman Temple, located in Jalan Tebrau, Johor Baru, is set to become a major tourist attraction apart from being used by Hindu devotees.
95 per cent of the temple’s walls, ceiling, domes and pillars have been adorned with over a million pieces of colourful glass imported from Thailand, Japan and Belgium. The total cost of the temple is approximately three million ringgits or 1 Million US Dollars.

Washington A US-based Hindu advocacy group has asked American fast food chain Burger King to immediately remove an advertisement campaign featuring goddess Lakshmi, which it says is “offensive” to the people of the faith. Burger King is running a print advertisement in Spain that depicts an image of the goddess seated atop a meat sandwich and other foodstuffs with the catch phrase, “A snack that’s sacred,” in Spanish.

Most of the passengers on board the Air France plane which has disappeared over the Atlantic were Brazilians and French nationals, airline officials said.
Air France confirmed 61 French and 58 Brazilian passengers were among the 216 passengers on board flight 447.
A list provided by Brazil‘s authorities showed 26 Germans were also on board as well as nine Chinese and nine Italians.

Hummer to be sold to Chinese firm
General Motors is to sell its Hummer brand to China‘s Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery for an undisclosed amount.
This deal will save about 3,000 jobs in the US and Hummer will remain based in the US, but might be with better efficient engines, and price tag, that GM somehow never achieved. Also this will be first foray by a Chinese company into the U.S. auto market.
